Credo Technology Shares Plunge 20% Despite Record Q1 Revenue
Credo Technology shares fell 20% after Q1 2027 results revealed high customer concentration and a contraction in GAAP gross margins despite record revenue growth.
Credo Technology Services LLC saw its market value drop by $8 billion on Wednesday as shares plunged 20% following the release of its first-quarter 2027 financial results. The sell-off occurred despite the company reporting record revenues of $479 million, a 115% year-over-year increase that exceeded Wall Street estimates along with adjusted earnings of $1.20 per diluted share.
Investors reacted negatively to two primary risk factors. First, the company faces significant customer concentration, with its three largest clients accounting for 74% of total revenues. Second, GAAP gross margins contracted by 2.9 percentage points, a decline management attributed to a shift in product mix as the company transitions toward higher-value integrated modules for AI data center connectivity.
Management noted that non-GAAP gross margins remained stable and provided guidance suggesting potential margin expansion in the second quarter. Credo also issued Q2 revenue guidance of approximately $530 million, surpassing the analyst consensus of $517 million. Despite these positive forecasts, the stock's high valuation ratios and the risk of stalling growth if mega-buyers reduce orders drove the sharp decline.
