Doug Ford Orders Efficiency Reviews for Ontario Provincial Agencies

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced a review of several key provincial agencies to ensure efficiency, good governance, and value for taxpayers. The Treasury Board Secretariat will begin the process this summer, targeting Metrolinx, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Supply Ontario, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Ontario Cannabis Retail Corp., Legal Aid Ontario, Agricorp, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

The initiative follows a decline in public support for the Progressive Conservatives linked to an expense scandal involving downtown hotel claims. Ford ordered several government members to repay more than $120,000 in hotel expenses, a situation that led to the July 17 resignation of cabinet minister Stan Cho.

Critics argue the agency reviews serve as a distraction from the government's own spending record, specifically citing Ford's previous purchase of a $28.9 million executive jet.
