Intellico CEO Urges Trinidad and Tobago to Delay AI Data Centers

The CEO of the newly launched Intellico AI Agency Limited, Gregory Fernandez, is calling on the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to postpone the development of AI data centers until the nation clarifies its energy and water capacities. The request follows an announcement by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar regarding two Memoranda of Understanding with Ernst & Young and Hummingbird AI to construct facilities with capacities of 300 MW and 150 MW, respectively.

Fernandez argues that the significant power and water resources required to sustain such centers are not currently guaranteed. He cited the ongoing gas supply struggles experienced by companies in Point Lisas as evidence of systemic resource instability. Advocating for a "people first, data centre after" approach, Fernandez stated that the government must first present a sustainable power plan.

While criticizing the timing of the infrastructure projects, Intellico AI Agency Limited is moving forward with its own regional efficiency goals. The company plans to unveil agentic AI solutions designed to improve regional efficiencies on August 26.
