Smith & Wesson Appoints Debbie Reith as R&D Tax Partner

Accounting and advisory firm Smith & Wesson appointed Debbie Reith as a partner in its research and development team in Newcastle, UK. Reith joins the firm from KPMG, where she served as a partner in the innovation reliefs and incentives team. With more than 20 years of experience in corporate tax and innovation incentives, she will focus on helping companies utilize Patent Box incentives and R&D tax credits.

Smith & Wesson stated the appointment aligns with its long-term expansion plans and ongoing investment in the north of the UK. The move follows the recent addition of Luke Powell and Stephane Kurgan to the firm's board as independent non-executive directors.

Mark Webb, Smith & Wesson Business Tax head, said the appointment strengthens the firm's business tax practice and broadens its specialist expertise. Reith noted that research and development remain key to driving growth, productivity, and competitiveness.
