SpaceX Launches Starlink Satellite Internet Service in UAE

The satellite internet service Starlink, operated by Space Exploration Technologies Corp., officially began live operations in the United Arab Emirates on September 3, 2026. The launch follows a decision by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority on August 28 to grant the company a 10-year General Space Services License. This new agreement expands upon a 2024 license that limited Starlink to maritime services.

The service provides connectivity for residential users, businesses, government entities, aircraft, and vessels, offering speeds exceeding 400 Mbps. Residential plans are priced at Dh300 per month, with hardware costs starting at Dh1,465. CEO Elon Musk confirmed the expansion via X, noting that the UAE is now among more than 150 countries with access to the service.

While the service is active, the company warned customers that high demand and regional logistics challenges may cause shipping delays for hardware. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, stated that the licensing reflects the commitment of the UAE to advanced technologies.
