Meijer Named Top U.S. Convenience Store for 2026

Meijer claimed the top spot in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, while Buc-ee's fell to a tie for seventh place nationally.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) named Meijer the favorite convenience store brand in the United States for 2026. Meijer earned a score of 82 out of 100, representing the largest improvement in the study after scoring 76 in 2025. The retailer attributed the increase to its mPerks loyalty program and the accessibility of Meijer Express stations.

QuikTrip, Sheetz, and Wawa tied for second place with scores of 80. Buc-ee's experienced a decline in national standing, falling from a score of 79 last year to 77, leaving it tied for seventh place with Maverik, Pilot, RaceTrac, and Shell. Despite the national drop, Buc-ee's performed stronger in the South, where it tied for second place with a score of 81, trailing only Wawa.

The rankings were based on 9,475 customer surveys conducted between October 2025 and September 2026. The study evaluated food quality, cleanliness, store layout, and mobile app performance. While the ACSI noted a slight industry-wide decline in satisfaction regarding bathroom cleanliness and mobile apps, it highlighted a broader trend of convenience stores investing heavily in food quality and menu expansion. Food sales now account for more than 28% of total convenience store sales.
