Apple Delays AI Smart Glasses Launch to June 2027

Apple Inc. delayed the reveal of its first AI smart glasses, codenamed N50, from late 2026 to the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2027. A consumer release is now expected by the end of 2027.

The postponement follows privacy backlash against Meta Platforms Incorporated regarding the secret filming and data practices of Ray-Ban smart glasses. To avoid similar pitfalls, Apple is debating whether to limit the camera's functionality to AI environmental analysis or remove the camera entirely.

The device will cost between $200 and $500 and feature hands-free Siri access, music playback, and phone call capabilities, though it will lack an in-lens AR display. To differentiate the product from competitors, Apple plans to process AI features on-device, avoid facial recognition, and prohibit the use of recorded videos for AI training or third-party contractor review.
