Vodafone Idea Refreshes Brand and Appoints Shah Rukh Khan
Vodafone Idea launched a new visual identity and appointed Shah Rukh Khan as brand ambassador to transition into a digital connectivity partner.
Vodafone Idea Limited launched a refreshed visual brand identity on September 1, replacing its signature brand mark with a three-dimensional sphere. The company intends to transition from a conventional telecommunications provider into a digital connectivity partner, focusing on network expansion and service innovation. As part of this shift, the company appointed actor Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador for a new promotional campaign titled “Vi badal raha hai… tayaar rahiye”.
CEO Abhijit Kishore described the rebranding as the first expression of the company's evolution and an effort to position the firm as a tech company. The updated branding is being integrated across retail stores, digital platforms, and marketing communications nationwide to project energy and optimism.
This strategic pivot occurs while the company faces severe financial strain. As of June 30, 2026, Vodafone Idea carries statutory payment liabilities of approximately ₹1.56 lakh crore, including a ₹9,259 crore payment due to the Department of Telecommunications by June 2027. The Government of India remains the largest shareholder with a 49% stake. The company aims to use the renewed visibility to improve customer loyalty and attract investment amid intense market competition.
