Houthi Group Launches Missile Attacks Across Saudi Arabia
The Houthi group targeted Riyadh and oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia on November 8, claiming significant damage while Saudi officials reported only minor impacts.
The Houthi group launched a series of ballistic missile, cruise missile, and drone attacks across Saudi Arabia on November 8, 2026. Military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed the operations targeted King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh's financial center, and Saudi Aramco oil storage facilities in Riyadh and Abqaiq, reporting that the strikes caused significant damage and fires.
Saudi authorities provided a different account of the impact. The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources reported that only an administrative building belonging to Saudi Aramco in Riyadh was targeted, resulting in minor damage and no casualties. Saudi Aramco did not immediately confirm the broader claims of damage to its Abqaiq facilities.
Simultaneously, the Houthis targeted government forces in Yemen's Al-Jawf, Marib, and Lahj provinces. The group stated these operations were retaliation for Saudi airstrikes in Taiz and Sanaa that they claim killed or wounded over 120 people. The group vowed to continue its campaign until the Saudi-led coalition ends its military intervention and blockade of Houthi-held areas.
The Government of Qatar strongly condemned the assaults, describing them as "shameful, aggressive behavior" and a "flagrant violation of Saudi sovereignty." Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate halt to the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, asserting that Saudi security is integral to the collective security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
