Spotify to Launch AI Remix Service in Early 2027
Spotify plans to introduce a paid AI-powered remix tool in early 2027 allowing subscribers to create personalized song covers and genre transformations.
Spotify plans to launch an AI-powered remix service in the first quarter of 2027, with a potential unveiling scheduled around the Grammy Awards in February. The tool will allow paying subscribers to create personalized remixes and covers of existing songs, including the ability to transform folk music into dance tracks or simulate one artist performing another's work.
The company is considering an additional monthly subscription fee of $4 to $5 for the service. To enable the feature, Spotify has secured licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, Merlin, and Believe. Negotiations remain ongoing with Sony Music and Warner Music.
Under the proposed model, royalties from fan-created remixes will flow back to the original artists, and plays will count toward the original songs' chart positions. While some established older artists have expressed interest, the company has found it more challenging to secure participation from major contemporary stars.
