Caturus LLC Expands Commonwealth LNG Facility in Louisiana

Caturus LLC announced a second-phase expansion of its Commonwealth LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, on September 15, 2026. The project adds five production units with a capacity of 7.75 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), increasing the site's total planned capacity to approximately 17.25 Mtpa.

The announcement occurred in Houston during the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial alongside Trump administration officials. The expansion follows a final investment decision on the base 9.5 Mtpa project, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2030. The additional capacity is expected to enter service in the early 2030s.

Backed by Kimmeridge Energy Management Co., Mubadala Energy, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the company cited growing global demand for reliable energy, specifically from Asian buyers, as the primary driver. President Tim Wyatt described the project as a natural extension of existing builds, while CEO David Lawler noted the United States is well-positioned to supply the growing global demand for affordable energy.
