NHTSA Closes Probe Into Honda Ridgeline Camera Failures

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration closed an investigation into rear-view camera failures affecting 129,092 Honda Ridgeline pickup trucks. The probe sought to determine if a 2022 recall remedy for wire-harness failures was insufficient, leading the agency to upgrade the review to an engineering analysis in February 2025.

Following inspections, owner surveys, and durability testing conducted by the Vehicle Research and Test Center, the regulator determined that the repaired wire harnesses were not prone to failure during a reasonable vehicle lifespan. The agency concluded that most reported failures involved different failure modes unrelated to the durability issue under investigation and decided to close the case without further action.
