Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Shatters Pre-Order Records Globally
Samsung Electronics reports record pre-orders for its Galaxy Z Fold 8 series in India and South Korea, leading to significant stock shortages and shipping delays.
Samsung Electronics is experiencing unexpectedly high demand for its new foldable smartphone series, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8. In South Korea, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has outperformed both the Ultra and Flip models, causing online stock shortages and pushing some delivery dates from August 4 to August 28. Despite a $1,899.99 price tag and the lack of an S Pen or telephoto camera, the device's 4:3 folding display has attracted significant early adoption, prompting the company to increase production of the Z Fold 8 by 40% over the Ultra model.
In India, the series recorded over 2.7 lakh pre-orders within 72 hours of the July 22 launch. This represents a sharp acceleration over the previous year, as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 required 15 days to reach the same volume. Notably, 45% of these Indian pre-orders originated from tier-2 cities and beyond, signaling a growing market for premium devices outside major metropolitan hubs. Samsung executives expect the Z Fold 8 series to match the pre-order numbers of the Galaxy S26 lineup.
