Apple Classifies iPhone X and 2018 MacBook Pro as Obsolete

Apple Inc. added the iPhone X and the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro to its worldwide obsolete products list on August 13, 2026. Under company policy, products are designated as obsolete more than seven years after they are no longer distributed for sale. This classification means Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers will no longer offer hardware repairs or replacement parts for these models.

The iPhone X, launched in 2017, introduced Face ID, OLED displays, and the display notch to the smartphone line. It is currently limited to iOS 16.7.16. The 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro featured an Intel processor and the T2 security chip, though it was known for its unreliable butterfly keyboard; it is limited to macOS Sequoia.

While the devices remain functional for current users, hardware maintenance now requires third-party services. A limited exception exists for Mac laptops, which may remain eligible for battery-only repairs for up to 10 years from their last distribution date, depending on parts availability.
