First Daily will host a high-level security dialogue on July 28 in Abuja to generate recommendations for strengthening Nigeria's national security architecture.
The media organization First Daily will host a high-level National Dialogue on Security on July 28, 2026, at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. The event, themed “Declaration of State of Emergency on Insecurity: Matching Words with Action,” is a non-partisan effort to develop actionable recommendations to strengthen Nigeria's security architecture and restore public confidence.
Retired General Martin Luther Agwai will chair the dialogue, while retired General Lucky Irabor is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. The gathering will bring together Nigeria's highest security leadership, including the Minister of Defence and the National Security Adviser, alongside political figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
Representatives from major socio-cultural organizations, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Arewa Consultative Forum, will also participate. The dialogue aims to examine the root causes of escalating insecurity and propose specific reforms to address the challenges facing the country.
