Quantum Computing Insiders Sell $895 Million in Shares
Insiders at four quantum computing companies sold $895.1 million more in shares than they purchased since September 2024 amid significant stock price gains.
Insiders at four pure-play quantum computing firms have conducted $895.1 million in net stock sales since September 18, 2024. This selling activity follows a period of substantial growth for the sector, with stock prices increasing between 400% and 1,820% over the trailing two years.
IonQ insiders led the selling with $454.4 million in net sales, followed by D-Wave Quantum at $331.1 million. Rigetti Computing and Quantum Computing Inc. saw net sales of $75.7 million and $33.8 million, respectively.
The high volume of sales occurs despite the sharp rise in valuations. Some of the activity may be linked to executives diversifying personal portfolios or selling shares to cover tax liabilities related to stock-based compensation.
