Loganair Cabin Crew Vote for Strike Action Over Pay

Loganair cabin crew members represented by Unite have voted for strike action, though the union is currently reviewing an enhanced pay offer to avoid disruptions.

More than 60 cabin crew members at Loganair have provided an overwhelming mandate for strike action following a ballot that ran from October 8 to October 27. The dispute involves staff based at airports in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Southampton, and the Isle of Man.

Unite union officials stated that workers rejected a final pay offer, with industrial officer Carrie Donoghue accusing the airline of tabling a final offer before formal negotiations had even begun. The union highlighted Loganair's after-tax profit of £31.6 million over the last four years, while General Secretary Sharon Graham cited rising workloads and job insecurity, specifically pointing to the airline's August decision to end public service obligation routes at Dundee airport.

Loganair expressed disappointment over the strike threat, citing a challenging economic climate characterized by rising fuel costs and softening consumer demand. The airline maintains that it does not expect the situation to affect flight services and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

Despite the strike mandate, Unite is currently delaying industrial action to allow members to ballot on a new, enhanced pay offer put forward by the company in an attempt to resolve the dispute.
