India and Qatar Hold 6th Foreign Office Consultations
India and Qatar conducted the sixth round of political consultations in New Delhi to review their strategic partnership across trade, energy, and security.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar conducted the sixth round of Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi on October 9, 2026. Co-chaired by Sripriya Ranganathan, India's Secretary for Consular, Passport and Visa, and Overseas Indian Affairs, and Ahmad Hassen Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks focused on reviewing a multifaceted strategic partnership.
Delegates discussed bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, security, consular affairs, education, and cultural cooperation. The officials also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues, with a specific focus on developments in West Asia. The meeting included participation from Qatar's Ambassador to India, Mohammed bin Hassan Al Jaber, and Al Johara Fakhro.
These consultations follow a series of diplomatic engagements in September, including the arrival of Indian Ambassador K Srikar Reddy in Doha on September 5 and his presentation of credentials to Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, on September 10. The two nations agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Doha at a mutually convenient date.
