Romania's Ministry of Finance Secures 1.09 Billion RON From Banks

Romania's Ministry of Finance raised 1.09 billion RON from banks and announced a new Fidelis government bond offering starting August 7.

The Ministry of Finance of Romania raised 1.09 billion RON from banks on August 3, 2026. The funds were secured by reopening a bond issue due in July 2028, with the final amount exceeding the government's initial target of 1 billion RON.

Following this transaction, the ministry announced it will launch the eighth Fidelis government bond offering of 2026 on August 7. Subscriptions for these securities will remain open until August 14. The offering includes RON-denominated bonds with annual interest rates between 6.3% and 7.5%, and euro-denominated bonds ranging from 4% to 6.3%, depending on the maturity period.

Special tranches are available for individuals who have donated blood since March 1, 2026, providing preferential rates and lower minimum investment thresholds. The bonds are available to resident and non-resident individuals over 18 through brokers and participating banks. All issued bonds will be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange of Romania with tax-exempt income.
