Marquita Bradshaw Wins Tennessee Democratic Senate Primary

Marquita Bradshaw won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee on August 6, 2026, securing more than 50% of the vote. An environmental advocate from Memphis, Bradshaw defeated four opponents: Maria Brewer, Kevin Lee McCants, Civil Miller-Watkins, and Diana Onyejiaka.

In the November general election, Bradshaw will face incumbent Republican Senator Bill Hagerty, who ran unopposed in his party's primary. The matchup is a rematch of the 2020 general election. Bradshaw aims to become the first Democrat to win a Tennessee Senate seat since 1990, though she faces a significant funding gap, having raised just over $2,000 compared to Hagerty's $5 million.
