Buc-ee's to Open First Oklahoma Location in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt confirmed that the Texas-based travel center chain Buc-ee's will open its first location in Oklahoma at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road in West Oklahoma City. The move is part of a broader expansion strategy by the company to enter business-friendly states, including recent plans to expand into Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

To accommodate the large-scale facility, the Oklahoma City Council approved an infrastructure agreement to upgrade the existing two-lane Cimarron Road bridge and its ramps. The project is estimated to cost roughly $25 million. Funding for the interchange upgrade includes up to $15 million from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and up to $8 million from CSMS Management LLC, a development company used by Buc-ee's. Oklahoma City will contribute an additional $10 million using previously secured federal funding.

Buc-ee's president and co-founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III has stated that the company prioritizes growth in conservative states with strong workforces and welcoming communities. While the infrastructure agreement is in place and negotiations are active, Mayor Holt has not yet provided a specific construction or opening date.
