UK Councils Announce Road Closures for Utility Works

Local authorities in Pembrokeshire and Wandsworth are implementing temporary road closures to facilitate telecommunications, gas, and water utility works through November 2026.

Local government authorities in the United Kingdom are coordinating a series of temporary road closures to allow for essential utility and telecommunications upgrades. In Pembrokeshire, Pembrokeshire County Council will close Mill Pond Road in Narberth for three consecutive Sundays starting November 15. The closures will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until November 29, though the council has issued a traffic prohibition order valid for 18 months to cover potential rescheduling.

Simultaneously, multiple utility projects are affecting traffic in Wandsworth. UK Networks is closing Bridges Court Road through October 30, while Southern Gas Networks is closing Standen Road and suspending a northbound bus lane on Merton Road until November 1. Thames Water is also implementing waiting restrictions on Princes Way through October 30. Additionally, short-term overnight closures are scheduled for Hebdon Road, Derinton Road, and Lessingham Avenue to accommodate telecoms work. Local authorities have stated that alternative routes for affected traffic will be clearly marked.
