Afghanistan and Iran Agree to Expand Energy Cooperation
Afghan and Iranian officials met in Tehran to establish joint oil and gas exploration and secure energy supplies for Afghanistan.
Afghan officials and Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad met in Tehran to expand bilateral energy cooperation. The delegation, led by Ahmad Jan Bilal, General Director of State-Owned Corporations, and Mohammad Nasir Rahimi, chief executive of the Afghan state-owned Oil and Gas Corporation, focused on securing Afghanistan's oil and gas requirements.
The discussions centered on establishing joint exploration efforts and providing technical and vocational training for Afghan personnel. As part of the visit, the Afghan delegation toured Iranian oil refineries and the Iranian Oil Ministry's research center to evaluate technical capabilities.
Both parties expressed readiness for comprehensive cooperation to implement these projects. To ensure execution, the officials established joint technical teams tasked with coordinating the agreed-upon energy initiatives.
