Joby Aviation Partners With Atoms to Develop Vertiports
Joby Aviation partnered with Travis Kalanick's Atoms to acquire and develop air taxi landing sites across four key U.S. states.
Shares of Joby Aviation surged nearly 8.9% to a session high of $8.10 on August 4, 2026, following the announcement of a vertiport infrastructure partnership with Atoms. Founded by Travis Kalanick, Atoms will collaborate with Joby to acquire and develop air taxi landing sites in California, Florida, New York, and Texas.
These four states serve as primary markets for Joby's early commercial operations, which are conducted under the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. CEO JoeBen Bevirt stated that the right infrastructure is increasingly important as air taxis move closer to early commercial service in the United States.
The stock rally occurred alongside a broader market surge in the Nasdaq, Dow Jones, and S&P 500. The announcement immediately preceded the company's scheduled Q2 2026 earnings release on August 5.
