India and Netherlands Discuss Trade and Maritime Logistics
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal visited the Netherlands to strengthen supply chains, explore semiconductor partnerships, and tour the Port of Rotterdam.
Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited the Netherlands from October 24 to 27 to strengthen bilateral economic ties and secure supply chains. During the visit, Goyal met with Heleen Herbert, the Netherlands' Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, in The Hague to discuss cooperation in semiconductors, critical minerals, green hydrogen, and advanced manufacturing.
The discussions focused on leveraging the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement, negotiated in January 2026 and currently awaiting EU Council approval, to increase trade flows. Goyal also toured the Port of Rotterdam, Europe's largest port, with CEO Boudewijn Siemons to discuss port-led growth and logistics efficiency, viewing the facility as a strategic gateway for Indian goods into the European market.
Beyond government and industrial meetings, Goyal met with approximately 70 members of the Indian diaspora at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam to discuss bilateral economic and cultural connections.
