SoftBank Intel Stake Reaches $12.1 Billion as Shares Surge
SoftBank Group now holds a $12.1 billion stake in Intel, which comprises 67% of its U.S. equity portfolio following a massive stock price increase.
SoftBank Group has concentrated nearly 67% of its disclosed U.S. equity portfolio into Intel Corporation, holding 86,956,522 shares valued at $12.1 billion as of June 30, 2026. The concentration resulted from a surge in Intel's stock price rather than new acquisitions, as SoftBank maintained a constant share count between March and June.
SoftBank originally established the position in August 2025 with a $2 billion strategic investment at $23 per share. Since then, Intel shares have risen nearly 300%, contributing to a first-quarter net income of approximately $2.2 billion for SoftBank, driven by a 1.3 trillion yen gain on the stock. Despite the valuation increase, SoftBank's stake represents less than 2% of Intel's total shares outstanding.
Intel reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $16.1 billion, a 25.4% increase. To fund general corporate purposes and capital expenditures, Intel raised $23 billion this month by selling approximately 242 million new shares at $95 each. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son continues to prioritize AI infrastructure, including the $500 billion Stargate Project in partnership with OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX.
