Amy Acton Wins Ohio Governor Race as House Seat Remains Undecided

Democrat Amy Acton won the Ohio gubernatorial race, while a contested U.S. House seat in Dayton awaits the count of thousands of provisional ballots.

Democrat Amy Acton won the Ohio gubernatorial race with 52% of the vote, securing victory in Montgomery County despite trailing Republican Vivek Ramaswamy in Butler, Clark, and Warren counties. Statewide voter turnout reached approximately 58%, an increase from 52.3% in 2022.

In the Dayton region, Democrat Kristina Knickerbocker declared victory in a U.S. House race, claiming to have unseated 12-term Republican incumbent Mike Turner. Unofficial results show Knickerbocker leading by 4,938 votes, but the Associated Press has not called the race. The outcome remains uncertain with 9,407 provisional ballots and 453 overseas and active duty ballots still outstanding across Butler, Greene, and Montgomery counties. Mike Turner has not conceded or commented publicly.

Local races in southern Montgomery County also remain tight. Republican Tom Young trails Democrat Tom Herner by 134 votes for a State Representative seat, and a Dayton Public Schools levy currently appears to be failing by 593 votes. Election officials are reviewing more than 13,000 provisional ballots and 603 military and overseas ballots across several counties. Provisional voters have until November 7 to provide proof of eligibility.

The Office of the Ohio Secretary of State scheduled the official canvassing of results to begin November 8, with a completion deadline of November 24.
