Talcott Financial Group and Goldman Sachs established West Grove Re, a Bermuda-domiciled reinsurance sidecar with $1 billion in closed capital.
Talcott Financial Group launched West Grove Re, a Bermuda-domiciled reinsurance sidecar created in partnership with Goldman Sachs. The new entity has closed approximately $1 billion in capital through a combination of a credit facility and equity commitments from Talcott, Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management and its clients.
West Grove Re will participate in a quota share of specific Talcott-sourced U.S. annuities to provide capital-efficient and scalable solutions. Under the agreement, Talcott will provide essential support services, including risk management, compliance, finance, and actuarial expertise.
Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management serves as a strategic partner and the investment manager for private asset strategies, while other third-party managers are expected to handle the remaining assets. Talcott CEO Imran Siddiqui characterized the move as a step in the company's growth strategy to broaden access to liabilities. Vivek Bantwal of Goldman Sachs Alternatives noted the investment's utility for the insurance marketplace.
