Democrats Flip Pennsylvania Seat as Incumbents Hold New Mexico

Democrat Janelle Stelson defeated Republican Scott Perry in Pennsylvania's 10th District, while Republicans Daniel Meuser and Democrats Melanie Stansbury secured reelection in their respective seats.

Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson defeated Republican incumbent Scott Perry in a rematch for Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District on November 4, 2026. The Associated Press projected Stelson as the winner with 56.5% of the vote, marking a shift in a swing district previously won by Donald Trump. Stelson, a former TV anchor, campaigned on cost-of-living issues and criticized the war in Iran, receiving support from Governor Josh Shapiro and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

In Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Daniel Meuser won reelection to a fifth term, defeating Democrat Rachel Wallace. Meuser focused his campaign on border security and the economy, characterizing his victory as bittersweet because Republicans lost seats in the state's 7th and 8th districts and faced losses in the U.S. Senate and House.

Meanwhile, in New Mexico's 1st Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Melanie Stansbury secured a fourth consecutive term by defeating Republican Ndidimaka Okpareke. Stansbury won 63.8% of the vote, leveraging a significant financial advantage of $1.7 million over her opponent. Stansbury noted that her victory was the first time a Democrat in New Mexico history had been elected to a fourth term.
