Zomato Bans Analogue Dairy Products From Delivery Platform

Zomato implemented a zero-tolerance policy banning the sale of dishes containing analogue dairy products on its platform. The food delivery service removed all dishes declared by restaurant partners as containing analogue dairy and warned that non-compliant restaurants face delisting.

To maintain platform access, restaurant partners must switch to natural dairy products and verify supplier ingredient labels. This action follows guidance from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, which clarified that selling analogue cheese as paneer violates the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.

The policy shift aligns with broader regulatory crackdowns in India. The Government of Maharashtra previously imposed a one-year ban on the manufacture and sale of analogue paneer after an enforcement drive revealed that 35.4% of analyzed samples failed to meet safety and quality standards.
