Green Party Leader Zack Polanski Eyes Holborn and St Pancras Seat

The Green Party in England and Wales is fast-tracking its selection process for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, triggered by the resignation of former Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party, is the likely candidate and began campaigning in the constituency on September 1, describing the vote as a referendum on ending rip-off Britain.

While local party members hold the final selection authority, nominations are expected to close by the end of next week. The Labour Party is working to retain the seat, with Camden council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali emerging as the frontrunner. Other potential Labour candidates include Adam Hug, Nash Ali, and Rishi Madlani.

The contest features several other challengers, including Hussain Shafiei of the Workers Party of Britain and independent Andrew Feinstein, who placed second in the 2024 general election. Labour MP Tulip Siddiq is actively campaigning to help the party maintain its hold on the north London seat.
