Square Enix Launches Final Fantasy XIV on Nintendo Switch 2

Square Enix launched Final Fantasy XIV for the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026. To coincide with the release, the company discounted the Complete Edition by 30% on the Nintendo eShop, reducing the price to $41.99 until August 8, when it will return to $59.99.

To assist with the transition to the new platform, subscription fees are waived for approximately one month following the launch, followed by a 30-day free play period for new platform registrations. While the game does not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a separate monthly subscription is mandatory for full access. Players already on other platforms who subscribe to the Switch 2 version receive a 50% discount on that subscription.

A free trial is available for the base game and the first three expansions, including Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers. Square Enix also announced that the Evercold expansion is scheduled to launch across all platforms in January 2027.
