Russian Airstrikes Kill Eight Across Ukraine
Russian forces launched airstrikes and drone attacks across Ukraine, killing eight people and injuring over 80 others in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.
The Military of Russia launched a series of airstrikes and drone attacks across Ukraine on October 5, 2026, targeting residential areas and infrastructure. The most severe strikes hit Kharkiv, where three bombs struck different parts of the city, killing six people and injuring 59, including three children. The attacks caused extensive damage to warehouses and apartment buildings.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that broader strikes across the Kharkiv region over a 24-hour period resulted in seven total deaths and 80 injuries, including the death of an 85-year-old woman in the village of Rayivka. Mayor Ihor Terehov oversaw the recovery of bodies from the rubble in the city.
Simultaneous attacks targeted other regions. In Zaporizhzhia, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported a drone strike on an apartment building that injured three people. In the Donetsk region, a Russian airstrike in Sloviansk killed one person.
