Glens of Antrim Potatoes Enters Administration After 54 Years
Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd ceased trading and entered administration on September 21, resulting in nearly 95 employees being made redundant.
Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd, a Northern Ireland-based potato and crisp supplier, ceased trading and entered administration on September 21, 2026. Founded in 1972, the company supplied retailers across the UK and Ireland, including major supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury's, and launched its own crisps brand in 2015.
The collapse followed significant cash flow challenges and rising costs within the agri-food sector. Despite efforts by company directors to secure refinancing or new investment, the business failed, leading to the redundancy of nearly all of its 95 employees. Only a small number of staff have been retained to assist with the administration process.
Stuart Irwin, Ian Leonard, and Robin Coughlin of Interpath Advisory were appointed as joint administrators. They immediately halted all trading operations and are currently seeking potential buyers for the business and its assets. This failure aligns with a broader trend of UK business collapses in 2026 across the retail, travel, and aviation sectors.
