Finland Reports June 2026 Trade Deficit Despite Export Surge

Finnish Customs reported preliminary foreign trade figures for June 2026 showing a trade deficit of EUR 1.9 million. This figure represents an increase from the EUR 0.4 billion deficit recorded during the same month in the previous year.

Despite the deficit, exports grew by 39.6 percent annually, significantly outpacing a 17.6 percent increase in imports. This export growth was primarily driven by a 311 percent surge in pharmaceutical product outflows and an 88 percent expansion in precious metal exports.

Trade with non-EU countries saw the most dramatic increase, growing by 71.3 percent, while exports to EU member states rose by 12.8 percent.
