Xanadu Secures $10 Million DARPA Funding for Quantum Computing
Xanadu Quantum Technologies Limited received provisional approval for up to $10 million from DARPA to accelerate fault-tolerant photonic quantum computing development.
Xanadu Quantum Technologies Limited received provisional approval for project funding of up to $10 million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The funding comes as part of a one-year contract extension under the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI) after the company successfully completed Stage B evaluations.
Xanadu will use the majority of the funds to accelerate the development of critical components for fault-tolerant, utility-scale photonic quantum computing. The company utilizes a photonic architecture, such as its Aurora computer, which is designed for scalability and networkability while operating at room temperature.
Chief Executive Officer Christian Weedbrook stated that continued participation in the QBI program supports the company's objective of developing quantum solutions for industries including AI, defense, aerospace, and drug discovery.
