Great Southern Bank to Close Nine Branches and Cut 66 Jobs

Great Southern Bank notified Missouri regulators that it will close nine branch locations and eliminate 66 positions across Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, and Kansas. The closures and staffing cuts are scheduled to take place in late September and on October 1, 2026.

According to a WARN notice, the layoffs include 24 positions at the bank's headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, effective September 30. Additional staffing cuts will occur at branches in Rogers, Arkansas; Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Lee's Summit, and Oakville, Missouri; Ankeny and Pleasant Hill, Iowa; and Olathe, Kansas.

The reductions target both corporate and retail operations, signaling a contraction in the bank's physical footprint across the Midwest.
