Kalyan Banerjee Suspended From Lok Sabha After Party Clash
Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the Lok Sabha following complaints of foul language and public disputes with Trinamool Congress leadership.
Four-time Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the Lok Sabha after rebel members of parliament filed complaints regarding his use of foul language.
The suspension follows a public airing of grievances by Banerjee on social media. During a Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata on July 22, Banerjee claimed his speech was repeatedly stalled, citing the arrivals of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee on the rally dais. He accused a group he termed "Kalighat Sources"—individuals operating from Mamata Banerjee's official residence—of leaking misleading information to the media to undermine him.
Despite these accusations of internal friction, Banerjee emphasized his continued loyalty to the Mamata Banerjee-led faction. He contrasted his recent district visits to encourage party workers with other leaders who he claimed avoided such trips due to fear of public backlash.
