Nitin Gadkari Pledges Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Completion Within Two Years
Nitin Gadkari announced the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is 75-80% complete and directed safety improvements during a multi-site inspection in Rajasthan.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that the Rs 1.10 lakh crore Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is approximately 75-80% complete and will be fully finished within two years. During an inspection tour of Rajasthan on July 8, Gadkari stated that the project will eventually allow travelers to reach Mumbai's Nariman Point and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port from Delhi in about 12 hours.
Visiting the Labana Interchange in Bundi, the Pinan rest area in Alwar, and the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve Tunnel in Kota, Gadkari ordered the National Highways Authority of India to strengthen patrolling and strictly enforce rules against indiscriminate truck parking to prevent accidents. He also announced new regional projects, including a Rs 551-crore Mukundara Bypass and a Rs 1,000-crore greenfield spur connecting Kota to the expressway, alongside plans for the Rs 15,000-crore Atal Express Highway from Kota to Etawah.
Accompanied by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the minister emphasized that the expressway would serve as an economic catalyst for underdeveloped tribal districts. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari noted that the project has already boosted trade and tourism, while the government implements CCTV surveillance and speed monitoring to maintain safety standards.
