Geely Unveils AI-Powered 2.2 MW Ultra-Fast Charging System

Geely Auto Group unveiled Geely Smart Charge, an ultra-fast charging system featuring a record peak power output of 2,250 kW. The technology can charge an electric vehicle battery from 10 percent to 70 percent in approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and reach a 97 percent charge in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. This performance surpasses a similar system from BYD Company, which reaches 97 percent in nine minutes.

The system is powered by the Xingrui PowerMind energy model, developed in partnership with StepFun. This AI model utilizes cloud-based digital twins, deep learning, and thermal prediction algorithms to monitor battery health and dynamically adjust power. To support these speeds, Geely introduced Aegis Golden Brick ultra-short blade batteries, including a 12C version and a 6C version for the Galaxy E5 electric SUV, which will debut in China later this year.

Geely plans to deploy over 100,000 charging guns across China by the end of 2027, including 50,000 Smart Charge units. To encourage adoption, the company is offering new owners a 1,000 yuan annual charging allowance for two years and has extended battery warranties to 8 years or 200,000 km. The company tested the technology using Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 models, with the former achieving a peak charging power of 1,093 kW according to the China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd.
