Google and Navana.ai Launch Advanced Voice and Avatar AI

Google released new text-to-speech models and animated avatars, while Navana.ai launched Bodhi TTS specifically optimized for Indian languages and sovereign data centers.

Two major AI developments occurred between September 23 and 25, 2026, focusing on the expansion of synthetic voice and visual interaction capabilities.

Google LLC introduced Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS and Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS via its cloud platform. The Flash model supports 130 languages with high audio quality, while the Flash-Lite version prioritizes speed and cost-efficiency across 101 languages. Both allow developers to create custom voices from 30-second samples and utilize SynthID watermarking for authenticity. Google further expanded its suite with Gemini 3.8 Live and Live Avatar, providing Gemini Enterprise customers with animated AI personas capable of real-time lip-syncing and facial expressions in 97 languages.

Simultaneously, Navana.ai launched Bodhi TTS, a model specifically engineered for the Indian market. Supporting 10 languages including Hindi, Tamil, and Marathi, Bodhi TTS features over 50 natively Indian voices and is optimized for regional linguistic nuances, such as reading financial figures as lakhs. Unlike cloud-dependent models, Bodhi is designed for sovereign architecture, enabling regulated entities like banks to run inference within their own data centers to maintain security. Navana.ai also opened invitation-only access to Bodhi STT, a speech recognition model supporting 10 languages and over 40 dialects.
