Projectile Strikes Liberian Tanker Lipsi in Strait of Hormuz

An unknown projectile disabled the Liberian-flagged tanker Lipsi in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the third attack on a Dynacom-managed vessel in three months.

An unknown projectile struck the Lipsi, a Liberian-flagged Aframax/LR2 tanker, in the Strait of Hormuz on October 4, 2026. The attack damaged the vessel's engine room, leaving the ship disabled and adrift approximately 3.9 nautical miles northeast of Jazirat Um Al Fayarin.

The tanker was delivered on August 24, 2026, and was likely on one of its first voyages since construction in China. The vessel is controlled by Greek shipowner George Prokopiou and managed by Dynacom Tankers Management. This incident represents the third Dynacom-managed vessel targeted in the region in less than three months, following previous strikes on the Acheloos and Kavomaleas in July.

UK Maritime Trade Operations confirmed that the crew remained safe and reported no environmental impact following the strike. Authorities are currently investigating the attack, though the type of projectile used and the party responsible have not been officially identified.
