Arab Parliament Speaker Demands UN Action Against Israel

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, called for urgent international intervention and United Nations Security Council action to stop Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. In a statement issued between August 3 and August 5, 2026, Al-Yamahi condemned the targeting of residential homes, hospitals, and displacement tents, stating that "what the Palestinian people are experiencing is no longer mere violations or transgressions, but rather constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity committed before the eyes of the international community."

Al-Yamahi urged the immediate implementation of a ceasefire and a transition to the second phase of a peace plan to ensure the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the reopening of humanitarian crossings. He further demanded the imposition of international sanctions against Israel and the prosecution of its leaders before the International Criminal Court.

To address escalation in the West Bank, the Arab Parliament speaker called for the designation of extremist settler organizations and their financial backers on international terrorism lists. He also advocated for the Government of Palestine to be enabled to exercise full responsibilities across both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
