Shannon Airport Expects 65,000 Passengers for August Bank Holiday

Shannon Airport expects more than 65,000 passengers to travel during the August Bank Holiday, representing a 7 percent increase over the same period last year. This spike aligns with a broader growth trend for the facility, which handled 1.17 million passengers in the first six months of 2026, a 12 percent rise compared to 2025.

The increase in traffic is supported by an expanded schedule of 40 routes, which includes increased capacity for transatlantic and European flights. The airport has introduced new services to several cities, including Frankfurt, Madrid, Poznan, Rome, and Warsaw. Airport officials are advising passengers to plan ahead and arrive early to accommodate the projected surge.
