BJP Leaders Accuse Opposition of Hypocrisy Over Jharkhand Student Protests

Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have criticized the INDI alliance and the Indian National Congress for their silence regarding student protests in Jharkhand. Ramchander Rao, the Telangana BJP President, accused the opposition of playing a dubious and hypocritical role by attempting to exploit students for political benefit. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain further alleged that the opposition is practicing double standards, noting that while they criticized issues in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, they have remained silent on grievances in the JMM-led Jharkhand government.

The protests center on the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission Combined Civil Services Examination. Following the announcement of preliminary results on July 5, aspirants alleging recruitment irregularities began demanding the cancellation of the Preliminary Test, a CBI investigation, and a review of examinations conducted via TDPL agencies. These demonstrations, led by the JPSC JSSC Reform Manch, recently escalated to a meeting between a delegation of students, lawyers, and technical experts and government representatives at the Circuit House.

In a separate statement, Rao condemned the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, arguing that foreign interference from the United States regarding internal Indian matters questions the country's sovereignty.
