Minnesota Increases Minimum Wage to $11.87 Per Hour

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry will raise the state minimum wage to $11.87 per hour starting January 1, 2027.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announced that the state minimum wage will increase to $11.87 per hour for all employers effective January 1, 2027. This adjustment represents a 3.99% increase designed to account for inflation.

As part of the update, the 90-day training wage for employees under the age of 20 will rise to $9.68 per hour. While these rates are mandated statewide, the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul continue to maintain their own local ordinances with higher minimum wage requirements.

State law requires employers to provide employees with written notice of pay rate changes before they take effect. Additionally, businesses must display updated state-mandated posters to inform workers of the new requirements.
