SpiceJet Q400 Pilots Strike Over Unpaid Salary Dues
Approximately 40 SpiceJet Q400 pilots have refused to fly until the airline clears pending salary dues and outstanding employee benefits.
SpiceJet faces a pilot strike as approximately 40 operators of its Q400 aircraft refuse to fly until the airline clears pending salary dues and outstanding employee benefits. The Airline Pilots’ Association of India has declared solidarity with the striking crew, providing moral, logistical, and professional assistance to resolve the dispute.
The association stated that the pilots have been operating under "considerable stress and uncertainty arising from persistent financial and operational challenges." These difficulties extend beyond payroll, as unpaid vendors have reportedly withheld essential aircraft-related services.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is monitoring the budget carrier's stability. SpiceJet currently maintains only 10 operational aircraft, including two Q400s, while 37 aircraft remain parked.
