Jet2 Warns Passengers Against Packing Lithium Batteries in Hold

Jet2 issued a safety warning reminding passengers that power banks, e-cigarettes, and other items containing lithium batteries must be carried in hand luggage rather than placed in checked hold baggage. The airline urges travelers to store these devices under the seat in front of them, ensuring they are switched off, securely packaged, and protected against short circuits.

Chief Customer Officer David Hills described the guidance as a simple but important reminder to maintain safety during the late-summer holiday surge. As part of the safety measures, the airline strictly banned damaged batteries and small lithium-powered vehicles from both checked and hand luggage.

This warning follows a previous incident involving an EasyJet flight from Egypt to London Luton, which was diverted to Rome after a power bank was discovered charging in a passenger's luggage.
