Andhra Pradesh Governor Summons Legislature for August Monsoon Session

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer summoned the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature for a four-day Monsoon session scheduled from August 17 to August 20, 2026. The Legislative Assembly will begin its seventh session at 9 a.m., followed by the Legislative Council's 50th session at 10 a.m. The session is timed to conclude before the Varalakshmi Vratam festival on August 21.
Legislators intend to address the progress of the Polavaram project and the development of the Amaravati capital city. The agenda also includes discussions on farmers' issues and the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon.
In preparation for the session, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority will hand over newly constructed quarters for MLAs and MLCs to the General Administration Department on August 13. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to attend the handover event.
