Anduril Reaches $90 Billion Valuation Amid Defense Contract Scrutiny
Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf defended the company's multi-billion dollar government contracts as merit-based while the firm reached a $90 billion valuation via a tender offer.
Anduril Industries has reached a $90 billion valuation following a tender offer for employees across 16 countries. The defense technology firm recently secured a $20 billion multi-year contract and a $2.9 billion shipyard contract from the United States Department of Defense.
Brian Schimpf, CEO of Anduril, defended the company's procurement success against concerns regarding co-founder Palmer Luckey's political ties to the Trump administration. Schimpf stated that the company wins contracts based on merit through a structured evaluation process and noted that the firm grew significantly under President Joe Biden.
These ethics concerns follow Luckey's appointment to Project Meridian, a Department of Defense initiative. While Luckey intends to eventually take the company public, Schimpf indicated that Anduril is not rushing into an initial public offering to avoid the distractions of a hype cycle and to prioritize the ramp-up of defense production.
